A founder and CEO of a Morecambe group supporting Armed Forces veterans has stepped down from the role.
Gary Kniveton, an ex-Royal Marine, helped to set up the Bay Veterans Association in 2023.
Mr Kniveton was elected as a Lancashire county councillor for Reform UK earlier this year, and will now take on the role as Armed Forces Champion for Lancashire County Council.
"As a founder, Gary brought an incredible level of energy, dedication, and vision to the organisation, transforming Bay Veterans into a lifeline for many local veterans who rely on its support," said a statement from Bay Veterans Association.
"Gary’s new role will focus on advocating for the needs of the veteran community across Lancashire. His commitment to veterans will continue to make a positive impact.
"Bay Veterans thanks Gary for his outstanding contributions over the years and wishes him the best in his new role, where his passion for supporting veterans will remain as strong as ever."
County Councillor Kniveton said: "The new role is quite time consuming and exciting, and involves travelling around the whole of the county.
"I've had a fantastic two years with Bay Veterans Association and I've left it in good hands. It's been fantastic to see it grow, and it's been wonderful to meet the veterans, all the families and the local community as well."
Bay Veterans Association is a volunteer-led organisation based in Morecambe, dedicated to supporting veterans and their families across the North West.
Through various services, including mental well being, welfare support, social activities, and events, the organisation strives to provide a community where local veterans and their families can feel valued and connected.
It is based inside the Arndale shopping centre in Morecambe.
Prior to his role at Bay Veterans Association, Mr Kniveton was veterans' project officer at Morecambe Football Club.
