The popular Morecambe Vintage Bus Day has received a grant boost to help support the event next month.
Morecambe Town Council has awarded Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust a £1,500 grant for the day, taking place on Sunday, May 17.
The funding will help support a popular event that celebrates Morecambe’s heritage, attracts thousands of visitors, and boosts local businesses.
Morecambe Vintage Bus Day welcomes approximately 5,000 people to the town each year, with visitors enjoying free travel on a fleet of restored vintage buses and coaches. The free hop-on, hop-off services operate throughout the day, linking the Mazuma Stadium with Carnforth and Heysham Village, stopping at locations including the Promenade, Bare Village, Happy Mount Park and Morecambe Winter Gardens.
Alongside static displays, memorabilia and heritage stalls at the Mazuma Stadium, a range of events will take place along the route including Vintage in the Village (Heysham), Carnforth Model Railway Exhibition, and Eric Morecambe 100 celebrations at Morecambe Winter Gardens.

Cllr Lee Bradbury, Chairperson of Morecambe’s Festivals, Sponsorships and Events Committee, said: ‘’The Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust protects an important part of Lancashire’s transport and social history.
‘’Events like Morecambe Vintage Bus Day really help bring it all to life for residents and visitors alike, giving people of all ages a chance to experience and enjoy local heritage for free.’
Lance Jobson, Company Secretary of Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust, said, ‘We are extremely grateful to Morecambe Town Council for their generous support of Morecambe Vintage Bus Day 2026.
‘’This funding helps us continue to deliver a unique, free event that brings heritage vehicles back to life and makes them accessible to the whole community.
'As a not-for-profit charity, every donation and grant we receive plays a vital role in keeping our historic vehicles on the road and available for the public to enjoy.
‘’Events like this rely on strong local partnerships, and the Council’s backing is key to ensuring its continued success.’’
