A new mayor-elect of Lancaster has been chosen as well as a new 'Father of Lancaster City Council'.
Councillor Roger Dennison is the new mayor-elect and will be officially voted into office on Friday.
Councillor Dennison replaces the previous mayor-elect, his Morecambe Bay Independent colleague Tricia Heath, who lost her seat in the recent local elections.
He is a city councillor for Torrisholme who was born in Lancaster and has lived in Morecambe for around 50 years.
Councillor Dennison is married to Glenys, and has two sons and three grandchildren. He worked in local government for more than 30 years before becoming a councillor. He is currently the council's Armed Forces Champion and is also a member of Morecambe Town Council.
He will be mayor of Lancaster for 12 months, and replaces the previous mayor Councillor Joyce Pritchard whose year in the role has come to an end.
Recently-elected Councillor Martin Bottoms, also of the Morecambe Bay Independents and a councillor for Bare ward, will be deputy mayor.
Also on Friday, Councillor Robert Redfern will be appointed as the new 'Father of the Council'.
Councillor Redfern (below), a Labour councillor for Skerton, has earned the title of 'Father' as the member of council with the longest stint of unbroken service.

He will replace Abbott Bryning, the previous Father of the Council, who stepped down as a councillor before the local elections in May.
Mr Bryning had been on the council since 1967 and will be officially awarded the Honorary Freedom of the City of Lancaster on Friday.

The new appointments will be made at Lancaster Town Hall, where a mayor-making ceremony will take place, and past members of Lancaster City Council will also be admitted to the Roll of Honorary Aldermen of the City of Lancaster.
