Applications are now open for people interested in becoming on-call firefighters with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
The Service is encouraging people to do something different with their spare time by taking on this rewarding and flexible role.
On-call firefighters provide agreed hours of emergency cover throughout the week and respond to incidents in their local area from home or their primary place of work.
On-call Support Officer, Darren Eales, said: ‘’On-call firefighters play a vital role in keeping their communities safe.
‘’The role offers the opportunity to develop new skills and gain the same training as wholetime firefighters, while making a real difference. We welcome anyone who is interested and able to commit their time, and the support of local employers is essential in helping us respond across Lancashire.
‘’To become an on-call firefighter, applicants must live or work close to an on-call fire station and be able to respond quickly to emergencies, typically within five minutes. At some stations, this response time may be longer, so anyone who lives slightly further away is still encouraged to get in touch.’’
Anyone interested in the role is encouraged to register their interest online. An on-call support officer will then contact them to answer questions and guide them through the application process.
