Family and friends gathered at a charity ball to raise more than £35,000 in memory of a Morecambe legend.
A celebration event was held at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium, home of Morecambe FC, on Saturday in tribute to popular scrap yard boss Ken Allen, who died in 2021 aged 74.
Ken's daughter and Michelin-star TV chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen took over the kitchen to prepare her take on her dad's favourite food for more than 210 guests.
The event was organised by Ken's daughters Lisa, Jane and Debbie, and friend Catherine Butterworth from St John's Hospice.
Funds from the 'Hello Ken Allen' charity ball will go to the Lancaster hospice.
The event's flower displays were created by Heysham's Time For Flowers using parts from Ken’s very own scrap yard 'Ken Allen Autowreckers' on the White Lund estate.
Lisa was joined in the kitchen by an executive team of volunteer chefs plus some local friends supporting her in the kitchen, all giving their time for free to support the charity event.
Guests were treated to a gourmet dinner of Lancashire Cheese bread, Forest mushroom soup, Steak & Chips with aged Altham’s Beef with Sticky Meat Ball followed by Lemon Meringue and a Lancashire Cheese Board.
The drinks reception was sponsored by the Morecambe Hotel and Morecambe Care, and food was donated by suppliers who Lisa works with including Altham's Butchers, Wellocks and The Manchester Bread Company.
Local band Twenty Four Seven (pictured below) entertained the guests, and DJ and hospice volunteer David Galbraith continued with the music well in to the early hours.
There was an auction and raffle, and a 'birthday draw' as the night was Ken's 78th birthday.
“We are thrilled that the ‘Hello Ken Allen’s’ charity ball has generated such a fantastic level of support and funds," said Jane Whatmuff, Ken's eldest daughter.
“The feedback received from guests has been tremendous and it was a night when the local community really came together to remember our Dad the ‘legend’.
"We are so very grateful to all those who supported us on the evening, those attending, those who have donated their time and the suppliers and local companies including TRS Tyres Ltd, Local Choice Magazine, Ken Allen Autowreckers and Morecambe Metals as our main sponsors that gave so generously.
"The guests shared fabulous memories of our Dad whilst doing what he loved best, giving to others."
A spokesperson for St John' Hospice said they "really appreciate the hard work supporters put in to organising events and are really grateful to all involved in raising this phenomenal amount of money to help the hospice keep caring".
