Police have asked for further information into the tragic death of a rower on the River Lune last year.
Emergency services were called on Sunday morning, October 8, to the river at Skerton Weir, close to Halton Road to reports that two men who had been in a rowing boat had got into difficulty and gone into the water.
A man was rescued but another, 46-year-old Ben Booth, was pulled out of the water unresponsive.
He was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary where he was later pronounced dead.
While there is no active police investigation, there remains an ongoing coronial inquiry, and so police are asking for anyone who hasn’t contacted them yet with information, to get in touch.
A police spokesperson said: ‘’As part of the Coronial investigation, a pre-inquest review hearing has taken place.
‘’Whilst we spoke to a number of witnesses at the scene, if you witnessed the boat launch that day from John O Gaunt Rowing Club and the subsequent emergency response, and you haven’t yet spoken to us, we would ask that you get in contact.

Mr Booth was described as an "extremely experienced and capable oarsman" by the John O'Gaunt Rowing Club, where he was a member.
He worked as marketing manager for the Faculty of Health and Medicine at Lancaster University.
