A public meeting will be held in efforts to save a community village pub near Carnforth.
The Nib at Millhead has been closed for some time and there has been talk of it being converted for residential use.
But there are now plans to set up a community committee in the hope of buying The Nib to preserve it as a community pub.
A meeting has been called for Thursday February 27 at Millhead Village Hall at 7pm to discuss the premises' future.
A post on 'The Nib at Millhead' Facebook page said:
"The aim is to open The Nib as a community pub.
"Therefore we are holding a meeting for the Millhead community to discuss The Nib and setting up a community committee.
"We hope that everyone from the community will support this venture and attend the meeting."
The pub is up for sale at a guide price of £300,000.
A petition to 'Keep The Nib Pub Open' at change, org, set up in August 2024, has almost 500 signatures.
It calls The Nib "an important cornerstone of our community".
"This busy village pub has been at the heart of our community, fostering connections, and serving as a hub for our local football and golf teams.
"The closure of our beloved pub signifies more than just losing a favourite spot, it means losing a significant part of our local identity. It is grounded in facts that local pubs in the UK have been dwindling at an alarming rate; about 40 per cent of UK’s local pubs have closed since the 70s, with consistent closures since then.
"It is not just about the loss of beer and hospitality; it's also about the loss of community spirit and gatherings, shared celebrations, and collective consolations that have been held within the cosy ambience of The Nib. We risk losing the roots that tie us to our past, the interactions that sustain our present, and the gathering space vital for nurturing future community relationships.
"Let us come together, as a community that has shared bonds, laughter, tears, and cheers within the comforting walls of The Nib to preserve this historic icon."
