The Conservatives have chosen school teacher Peter Cartridge to contest the Lancaster & Wyre seat in the next general election.
Mr Cartridge, also a Wyre Borough councillor in the Great Eccleston ward, was selected last week to stand for the Tories in the newly-created constituency.
The next election will take place no later than January 2025.
Mr Cartridge (pictured below) said: "Parliament needs people who know their local areas, who are willing to get stuck into local issues, and give a voice to those who feel left behind.

“We need to increase the footfall (in Lancaster and Garstang), we need to attract better quality businesses and jobs to our area, and just generally make the centres nice places to be.
“I want to be our MP to help people, to improve Lancaster and Wyre. As the locally born and bred candidate, I'm well-placed to do this."
The existing Lancaster and Fleetwood constituency has been scrapped under The Boundary Commission's recent nationwide review.
The new constituency will include Garstang, Preesall, Great Eccleston, Hambleton and Stalmine, Calder, Wyresdale and Brock with Catterall, as well as the Lancaster areas of Bulk, Castle, Ellel, John O'Gaunt, Marsh, Skerton West and East, Scotforth West and East, and the University and Scotforth Rural.
Fleetwood will move into a new Blackpool North and Fleetwood constituency.
Cat Smith, Lancaster and Fleetwood MP (pictured below), will contest the Lancaster & Wyre seat for Labour.
