The warriors are shaping their swords and Heysham village is ready for the return of the vikings!
This weekend Heysham transforms into an authentic viking settlement for the Heysham Viking Festival.
The village field will be alive with viking-themed activities on Saturday July 19 and Sunday July 20, 10am to 5pm, free admission
They will include an immersive Viking encampment where visitors can witness daily life unfold as skilled reenactors bring the past to life, demonstrations of weaving, woodworking, leatherwork, and thrilling battles and spectacles as warriors clash in epic combat re-enactment.
There will also be a weapons display, a viking parade, craft and food stalls, and a fun fair.
There will be limited parking in Heysham Village - and organisers strongly encourage using local bus services.
Also organisers have advised visitors bring cash as some of the traders and food stalls prefer cash payments, although many will take card too.
The event is organised by a dedicated team of volunteers.
