Residents of a street in Heysham where a toddler died in an explosion are to undertake a charity walk and climb to raise money for a memorial garden for him.
In May 2021, two-year-old George Hinds lost his life in a gas explosion on Mallowdale Avenue.
They’re set to walk 22 miles and climb more than 2,600 feet during the fundraiser on Easter Saturday morning.
They’ll be setting off from Mallowdale Avenue, to walk to the summit of Mallowdale Fell, following the cycle path through Lancaster to Caton, then up to Clougha Pike and then to Ward’s Stone, before finishing at the Jubilee Tower above Quernmore.
A donation page has been set up by neighbour, Eleanor Braithwaite, who said: ‘’We are trying to raise as much money as possible so his parents, Vicky and Steven can give their beautiful little boy the memorial garden he deserves.’’
The aim is to raise £2,000 for the garden.
Meanwhile, local fundraiser Steve Trainor will be in Morecambe Morrisons on Easter Saturday all day from 9am selling raffle tickets to raise money for a memorial bench for George.
The raffle prize will be drawn on April 16 and is 24 bottles of red and white wine, donated by a Wine Club.
