A week-long campaign is underway to crack down on individuals and gangs who use Lancashire’s roads for criminality.
Part of Operation Vanquish, there will be an increase in police activity across the county’s roads, where officers will be out in cars and on patrol in areas of the county in a bid to tackle the issues raised by local communities.
The third phase of the of the operation began today, with officers out in the county visiting dangerous driving hot spots, dealing with motoring offences, and focusing on identifying, targeting and arresting those committing these offences throughout Lancashire.
There’ll also be targeted patrols, checkpoints and ANPR led activations to tackle ‘The Fatal 5’ - careless driving, drink and drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt, using a mobile phone at the wheel, and speeding.
There will also an increased mounted police presence.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: ‘’This is all part of our efforts in tackling the issues of most concern to our local communities and taking the fight directly to crime’s door.
‘’We are committed to listening to your concerns and to addressing the issues identified to us that will make a difference to your daily lives.’’
