Building work on a new housing and care home development at Slyne will start next year after planning permission was granted this week.
The plans for 58 new homes, care facility and a local centre which could include a coffee shop, pharmacy and community space, were approved by Lancaster City Council on Monday.
The Taylor Wimpey scheme will be built in fields off Lancaster Road and next to Turnpike Fold.
They will build a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom houses, as well as a care home with up to 60 beds,
“We’re very pleased that the planning committee has approved our plans for high quality new homes at Slyne Road," said a spokesperson for Taylor Wimpey.
“We’ll be delivering a mix of modern, energy-efficient homes that will suit a range of buyers from the Lancaster market. We’re also proud that the development includes the provision of an extra care facility and a local centre.
“We plan to start on site next year.”

Planning officers had recommended that the overall scheme be approved subject to conditions, and this was ratified at a meeting of Lancaster City Council planning regulatory committee at Morecambe Town Hall.
The conditions include a legal agreement and a financial contribution towards a new primary school in the area.
The council has also asked that concerns over the potential for extra traffic in the area be resolved to the satisfaction of the Highways Authority, as another condition of planning permission being granted.
The site, which is close to the Bay Gateway and existing houses on Turnpike Fold, has been identified by Lancaster City Council as available for residential development of up to 700 homes.
