Around 70 homes were evacuated in Carnforth after what was believed to be an unexploded device was found.
Lancashire Police evacuated the properties on Sunday (May 3) after a member of the public found what was thought to be an ‘unexploded ordnance’.
The device was discovered in a garden in the Haws Hill area, with emergency services called to the scene around 5pm.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended and inspected the suspected unexploded device, where it was understood that the item was ‘expended’ and not a live device.
Everyone was able to return home at about 7.30pm.
