Ambulance passenger seriously injured in road crash in Lancaster

Emergency services were called to Caton Road on Tuesday afternoon

A passenger in a patient transport ambulance has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a road crash in Lancaster.

Lancaster Police said they were called to Caton Road at 2.06pm on Tuesday, to a report of a collision.

Emergency services attended and it was found that the crash involved a patient transport ambulance and a transit van.

"A passenger in the patient transport ambulance suffered serious injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital," said the police spokesperson.

"The road has been closed and is expected to be closed for some time."

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 14:22 on June 30 2026, two fire engines from Morecambe and Lancaster attended a road traffic collision on Caton Road in Lancaster.

"Firefighters used a bariatric sled to extricate one casualty from a vehicle. Crews were in attendance for one hour and 10 minutes."
