Singer-songwriter Amy Jo has released her new single from an EP inspired by Morecambe Bay.
'Coming Close' is out today (November 4) and will be the first release from Amy Jo's 'Songs from the Bay EP' - scheduled for release in 2023.
LISTEN to Amy performing the single live when she visited the Beyond Radio studios in July.
Amy says the track is a "reflection on what it’s like to always be the runner up".
“Most people have experienced moments of ‘Coming Close’, whether it’s getting a B on your final exam grade, being rejected from a new job or, as the lyric states, finding out you’re the mistress to the bad guy and never the wife to the good guy," she said.
"‘Coming Close’ features observations I’ve made from others around me, as well as personal tales…”
Here is a video clip of Amy performing the track in the Beyond Radio studio.
The 25-year-old from Morecambe, after winning numerous talent contests as a teenager, has performed alongside artists such as Scouting for Girls, Stooshe and Rick Astley, as well as the Fratellis, Alexander O’Neil, The Vamps, Professor Green and Pixie Lott.
'Coming Close' was co-written with Grant Black (Van Morrison, Craig David, Run DMC, Sarah Brightman, Olly Murs) and in recent weeks, Amy Jo has been writing with John Beck (Corinne Bailey Rae, Tamsin Archer) and Tim Hutton (Ian Brown, Prodigy).
John Beck co-wrote Corinne Bailey Rae’s Put `Your Records On, a track Amy Jo performed whilst winning a talent contest, earning £1000 for her chosen charity in the process.
'Coming Close', as well as the other three tracks on Amy Jo’s 'Songs From The Bay' EP, has been produced by Julian Hinton (Trevor Horn, Robbie Williams, Rumer) and Simon Bloor (Seal, Birdy, Will Heard).
