Residents worried about a mysterious stench in Heysham have been assured it does not pose a health risk.
Local people took to social media on Thursday to report an "awful toxic smell" in the area.
Some residents said they could smell it in the Westgate and Poulton areas of Morecambe too.
"We were made aware that there was an odour reported in the Heysham area earlier today," said a spokesperson for Lancaster City Council.
"This is currently under investigation and, at this time, we believe it does not pose a health risk."
No official cause of the smell has yet been determined but Beyond Radio has asked Lancaster City Council for this information, once their investigation has been completed.
