Explosives experts have been on the scene of where a suspicious package was found in Lancaster city centre.
Police and a bomb disposal team was called on Monday after a report was received just after 6:30am of a discovery near a property.
Staff at St Nicholas Arcades shopping centre and other nearby businesses were evacuated and their premises closed and a large police cordon was put in place between Great John Street and George Street, while traffic was diverted away from the one-way system as the incident was dealt with. Ffrances Passage was also sealed off to pedestrians.

A controlled explosion was carried out on a package, by the police’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
A Lancaster Police spokesperson said: ‘’Earlier today a cordon was in place in Lancaster Gate, Lancaster, after we received a report that a suspicious package had been found.
''Colleagues from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended and carried out a controlled explosion.
''Following the controlled explosion, it was found that the item was of no threat. Our enquiries are ongoing into how the item came to be in that location.
''The cordon has been removed and the roads in the area are reopened.
''Anyone with information to assist our enquiries, please contact 101 – quoting log 0198 of 28th April.''
