(UPDATED: 1:50pm) Emergency services continue to deal with a fire at a unit on the White Lund Industrial Estate in Morecambe which broke out on Sunday morning.
Fire crews are at the scene of the blaze at DCL Transport Services on Northgate in Morecambe, a section of which is closed while it is dealt with.
Eight fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms and the drone are currently on scene tackling the fire. When crews arrived, they were met with a significant smoke plume.
Advice remains to keep your windows and doors shut if you can see or smell smoke, and to please avoid the area. Road closures are in place, including part of the Bay Gateway.
Firefighting efforts will continue throughout the day.
People are being told to 'avoid the area' and keep doors and windows closed.
Group Manager Mark Warwick has provided an update. Watch here:
Images shared on social media show large plumes of black smoke that can be seen from miles around.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: ‘’The surrounding roads will be affected, possibly leading to traffic disruptions. Due to the smoke emitted from the fire, there may be disruptions travelling towards Morecambe Music Festival.
‘’We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time, whilst we assist the Fire Service, making sure the road is safe and assessing the situation.
‘’In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and avoiding the area, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.
‘’We’ll keep tabs on what’s happening and we’ll update you here once the road is open. As always, thank you for your patience and stay safe if you’re out and about today.’’
