The Police and Crime Commissioner has heard about illegal use of e-scooters, anti-social behaviour and shoplifting as he joined officers and the MP on the beat in Lancaster.
Clive Grunshaw joined neighbourhood police in Lancaster city centre alongside Cat Smith MP to discuss the policing issues that matter most to local communities.
“Through discussions today in Lancaster, it’s clear to see how well local officers know the communities they serve," said Commissioner Grunshaw.
"Their strong relationships with local people and understanding of the issues affecting the area are exactly what neighbourhood policing is all about.
“While there is always more work to do, it was encouraging to hear about the proactive work officers are carrying out every day to tackle local concerns and keep communities safe.
“As Police and Crime Commissioner, I will continue to champion strong neighbourhood policing and remain committed to ensuring Lancashire residents feel safe, supported and heard.”
Cat Smith said: “Neighbourhood policing matters because local people deserve to see officers out in their communities, listening to their concerns and taking action on the issues that affect their daily lives. Illegal e-scooter use, anti-social behaviour and shoplifting are all issues that residents and local businesses have raised with me, and I welcome the opportunity to discuss them directly with local officers and the Police and Crime Commissioner.
“Lancaster is a great place to live, work and visit, and people rightly expect to feel safe in their town centre. I will continue to work closely with Lancashire Police and the Commissioner to make sure local concerns are heard and that our communities have the visible, responsive policing they deserve.”
Mr Grunshaw also visited Morecambe town centre.

"During the visit, we met with local businesses to hear directly about the challenges they face and the positive impact the BID Warden is having.
"Working together with businesses, Lancashire Police and local partners, the project is helping improve reassurance, community confidence and safety across Morecambe."
