An extraordinary meeting will be held at a Morecambe sports and social club to decide if it should reopen after a period of closure.
Trustees of the Trimpell Sports and Social Club have called the meeting at the club for Monday August 24 at 7pm.
The Extraordinary General Meeting will be "to discuss and vote on a proposal that will allow the trustees to form an interim committee and reopen the club imminently" and all members are being encouraged to attend.
The announcement of the meeting comes just over a week after a £70,000 fundraising appeal was launched to safeguard the future of the club, which has been closed since August 3.
It was also announced that a Family Fun Day, scheduled for Sunday August 23 to try to raise money to help the club, has been cancelled.
More than £4500 has been raised since the 'Save Trimpell Sports and Social Club' appeal was launched on August 7.
The club is due to celebrate its 70th birthday in October.
But the club committee had asked for help to "ensure there is a future to celebrate".
In a post on the Trimpell page on August 7, at the time of the GoFundMe being set up, they said it was to "raise money that will go directly towards improving our club and ensuring we can continue providing a welcoming place for everyone to enjoy".
On July 29, a post on the Trimpell page said the club had to close "following advice from the local authorities".
This post went on to say: ‘’We have been advised that urgent works are required within the club to ensure the safety of our members, customers, staff and visitors."
A further statement on The Trimpell Club Facebook page on Tuesday, apologised for "the disappointment and inconvenience caused by the cancellation" of the family fun day.
"We know how much work, time and generosity has gone into organising this weekend, and we are incredibly sorry to everyone who was looking forward to attending.
"We would like to say a huge thank you to every local business, sponsor, volunteer, member and member of the community who offered their time, equipment, donations and support to help make the Fun Day possible.
"The support shown towards Trimpell over the past few weeks has been absolutely incredible, and we are genuinely grateful to every single person who has tried to help.
"We apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience caused by the cancellation.
"Thank you once again for your incredible support."
The Trimpell Club is owned by its members, and has been operated day-to-day by an elected committee.
The club also has a group of three trustees.
Beyond Radio has contacted the trustees of the Trimpell for comment and we were told they would not be making an official statement at this stage.
The club on Out Moss Lane opened in October 1956, built at a cost of £20,000 on playing fields owned by three companies - Trinidad Leaseholds, Imperial Chemical Industries and Shell Oil.
As Trinidad Leaseholds and Shell wound down their operations in Heysham, ICI became the sole patron until 1980, when with the new power station at Heysham, the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) purchased the playing fields, took over their maintenance and joined ICI as one of the club patrons.
After the break up of the CEGB, the successor companies played a smaller and smaller role in the club and eventually sold back the land to ICI.
The club was subsequently purchased from ICI by its members who continue to run the club as it is today.
