Children and families in Morecambe are being invited to take part in a new superhero-themed mini marathon launched by two local charities.
The 2.6 mile Superhero Mini Marathon, hosted by CancerCare and Unique Kidz & Co, will be held on Sunday May 17 in the town.
This inclusive, family-friendly event will see participants run, walk, scoot or wheel along Morecambe Promenade starting from The Battery at 11am, with all funds raised via ticket sales split between CancerCare and Unique Kidz.
Entry is £8 per person or £30 for a family of four, and every participant will receive a medal at the finish.
Superhero-themed fancy dress is encouraged. Spectators can attend the event for free.
The event, which is sponsored by TP Financial Solutions, will also feature games, stalls and entertainment.
CancerCare is a local, independent charity, based at Slynedales in Lancaster, that supports children and adults affected by cancer, life-shortening illness and bereavement.
Unique Kidz, based at Woodhill Lane in Morecambe, is a charity that supports children and young people with disabilities and SEND needs across North Lancashire.
“The Superhero Mini Marathon is all about having fun and taking part; no superhero fitness required," said Hayley Pritchard, CancerCare’s Community Fundraiser.
“Everyone is welcome, including families, children, young people, friends and colleagues, and dressing up is strongly encouraged – the more superheroes, the better! Capes, masks and full costumes are all welcome.
“Both CancerCare and Unique Kidz are incredible local charities with powerful missions to support local people who need it most. We are so excited to bring you this event, and we hope everyone will join us for a fun family day out!”
