Free parking is available at certain times in council owned carparks in Lancaster and Morecambe in the run up to Christmas.
Free parking is available on pay and displays operated by Lancaster City Council all day every Sunday until Christmas (November 27, December 4, 11 and 18), and Thursday too from next week (December 1, 8, 15 and 22), between 5pm and 8am on the Friday.
Normal charges will apply at Marketgate and other privately operated car parks.
Normal charges will also apply to on-street pay and display parking in Lancaster.
People are reminded that St Nicholas Arcades Car Park will be locked at 9.15pm on Thursday evenings and 5pm on Sundays.
The initiative is aimed to encourage those wanting to take advantage of late-night Thursday and Sunday opening to be able to do so.
