The candidates contesting a Lancaster City Council by-election have been named.
The Green Party, Labour, Liberal Democrats and Reform UK have nominated their candidates for Lancaster’s Castle ward by-election on Thursday, May 21.
There is no candidate fielded for the Conservatives.
The by-election was called after the resignation of Green councillor Isabella Metcalfe-Riener, who was elected two years ago, but is now moving away from the area for work.
The candidates are:
William David Evans (LAB)
Will Farley (GREEN)
Malcolm Allan Martin (LIB-DEM)
Marco Wright (REFORM UK)
Currently, the Castle ward’s two other councillors are both Greens – Dave Brookes and Paul Stubbins.
Currently, Lancaster City Council is led by a shared administration between Green, Liberal Democrat and the Morecambe Bay Independents. There are 22 Green councillors, 20 Labour, seven Lib-Dems, five Conservatives, three MBIs and three independents.
Applications for people to register to vote must reach the city council’s electoral registration officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday, May 5.
Applications can also be made on-line at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
