A Lancaster care home resident had an extra special day celebrating her 103rd birthday thanks to the generosity of local businesses.
Earlier this month, staff at Laurel Bank Care Home appealed for people to send in 103 cards to mark her special day on April 10.
The home received 220 cards, and with the help of local businesses, pulled out all the stops to ensure Joan had an extra special day.
Joan said she’s always wanted a ride in a limousine, and courtesy of The Hard Landscape Specialist, she was taken in style for afternoon tea at the Midland Hotel in Morecambe, before being taken back home to Laurel Bank in a limo provided by Preston Ireland Bowker.
Joan also had the services of a ‘Butler in the Buff’ waiting for her and friends, as they enjoyed a champagne party.

A spokesperson for Laurel Bank said: ‘’Wow! Where do we start? What a day for Joan and her 103rd Birthday!
‘’We’ve had 220 cards still being opened, and party bags and personalized t shirts were given to the ladies to give it that party feel.
‘’Thanks for the limo kindly paid for and organised by Aleah and her partner at The Hard Landscape Specialists. You guys are incredible!
‘’We were taken to the Midland hotel we're Joan and friends had the most delicious afternoon tea!
We were picked up by limo from Preston Ireland Bowkers and taken to Laurel bank where she was greeted by the Deputy Mayor of Lancaster, and Butler in the Buff, Dave.''

‘’One of residents, Dougie, is our events announcer for Laurel Bank and gave the most incredible speech.
‘’She has had the birthday of a lifetime and very special memories for Joan and her friends. It was an absolutely amazing day.
‘’Thank you to each and every one who sent cards. Thanks to (local companies Dancing in the Balloon Light, The Wreath Workshop and MEMcreations for the balloons, flowers and t shirts, and thanks to the staff that helped - Darcie, Gilly, Tim, Rayne, Kelly S, Kelly D, Lisa and Chris, and Grant.’’
