Morecambe's lifeboat crew respond to report of person shouting for help

Morecambe RNLI crew’s hovercraft was launched in response to reports of a person shouting for help over the weekend.

The volunteer crew responded to a request from HM Coastguard at 7:35pm on Saturday (September 12), following a 999 call reporting an individual shouting for help and flashing their light.

The Hurley Flyer (H002), was launched to attempt to locate and assist the casualty.

The hovercraft carried out a thorough search of the area alongside our partner agencies, but despite these efforts, the crew found no sign of the individual.

The Bay Search and Rescue team also assisted, and utilised their thermal imaging drone, but again nothing was seen.

The team was subsequently stood down by HM Coastguard just after 9:20pm.
