A new indoor laser tag attraction is being planned to open on the site of former shops overlooking Morecambe Bay.
Johnny's Entertainment (JET) Ltd has applied to Lancaster City Council for a 'change of use' on 206 and 207 Marine Road Central and the Winter Gardens Arcade.
JET Ltd owns the former Hitchen's/Littlewoods and B&M Bargains/Woolworths stores, where the popular laser tag activity is being mooted.
Laser tag is a recreational shooting sport where participants use infrared-emitting light guns to tag designated targets.
The attraction would be the first of its kind in Morecambe since the Megazone laser tag centre on Marine Road West was destroyed by fire in 2014.
The 'change of use' would allow indoor sport and recreation activities on the site.
The buildings were recently home to a temporary 'scare park' attraction for Halloween, called Johnny's Fear Factory, where laser tag was part of the activities.
Sol Reader from JET Ltd, told Beyond Radio in August that he had bought the laser tag equipment for the Fear Factory, and hoped it could be used more permanently.
JET Ltd also owns the nearby Johnny's Warehouse Bar, Soul Bowl & Vista bowling alley and restaurant, Pleasureland amusement arcade and Jump Rush trampoline centre.
Jodine Milne Reader, from JET Ltd, said this week: "At Jet Ltd we're continuing our plans for site redevelopment in Morecambe after having already successfully delivered Soul Bowl, Vista, Johnny's Bar and the Fear Factory over the past few years.
"In the longer term we hope to continue this path and have taken the first steps with a planning application for change of use - the first stage of which we hope to be our own laser tag operation and potentially attracting other operator tenants to lease the spaces we have available."
