Man detained under Mental Health Act after police called to incident near Lancaster

A man has been detained under the Mental Health Act following an incident near Lancaster.

Police were called at 1.40pm on Sunday to Wennington.

A police spokesperson said the incident was resolved by 4pm.

A section of Back Lane in Wennington was closed for a time on Sunday afternoon during the incident.

Section 136 of the Mental Health Act gives the police the power to remove a person from a public place, when they appear to be suffering from a mental disorder, to a place of safety, if the person is deemed by the police to be in immediate need of care and control as their behaviour is of concern.
