A man has died after a road traffic collision in Bolton-le-Sands.
Emergency services were called on Tuesday evening after the collision on the A6.
A police spokesperson said that an Audi A1 car was travelling southbound when it veered off the carriageway to the nearside.
The driver, a man in his 70s, was sadly pronounced dead a short time later at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
The police spokesperson said that "thoughts are with the man's family at this difficult time and they are being supported by specially trained police officers".
The road was shut for several hours to allow officers to examine the scene of the collision, after police were called at around 6.20pm.
The Coastal Road at Bolton le Sands and the junction with the A6 at the traffic lights were closed, and there was also a second closure on Mill Lane and the mini roundabout on Crag Bank Road.
If anyone witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the area around the time, please email 1747@lancashire.police.uk or call 101 – quoting log 1082 of February 28, 2023.
