A man has pleaded guilty to a murder in Heysham on the seventh day of his trial.
Leigh Smith admitted the murder of 49-year-old Keith Thompson who was assaulted off Heysham Road, near to the health centre, in the early hours of September 28 2024.
Smith, 39, of Binyon Court in Lancaster, was remanded back into custody to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on April 7.
Police launched a murder investigation after the death of Mr Thompson, below.

A postmortem examination established the cause of his death was blunt force trauma to the head.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: "Our thoughts remain with Keith’s family who continue to be supported by specially trained officers."
