A motorist was arrested after driving the wrong way along the M6 near Lancaster.
The incident happened on Saturday evening between junction 33 for Lancaster South and junction 32 for the Broughton Interchange.
Lancashire Police said a Seat Ibiza was seen being driven erratically on the southbound carriageway, but the driver did not stop, performed a U-turn and drove northbound on the south side.
After a chase, officers managed to perform a tactical stop on the vehicle, and a 26-year-old man from Ashford in Kent, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
The M6 was closed for a time while the aftermath of the incident was dealt with.
