A new Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) parking system is scheduled to go live in the patient and visitor car parks at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary next month.
From Monday, August 3, the ANPR system will be in force, and is designed to improve parking on the site by removing paper tickets, improving flow through the car park and helping ensure parking areas are used appropriately.
Patients and visitors can enter the visitor car park as normal, the ANPR Cameras will record your vehicle registration number on entry and exit.
Before leaving, you’ll have to enter your vehicle registration number at a payment machine and make payment before exiting the car park.
Within the visitor car park there will be a one-way flow, and you will now exit at the opposite side of the car park to the entrance
Blue Badge holders should scan their Blue Badge at the payment machine before leaving.
Staff and support will be available during the transition period, and patients who believe they may be eligible for a parking exemption should speak to a member of staff for further advice
A spokesperson for University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust said: ‘’We are aware that parking can be challenging at our busy hospital sites, and recognise the importance of ensuring patients, visitors and staff can access the hospital as easily as possible.
‘’We appreciate your patience and understanding as this new system is introduced.’’
