Police have renewed an appeal for witnesses and footage after four people - including a patient - were injured in a crash involving an ambulance and a van in Lancaster.
Emergency services were called at just after 2pm yesterday (Tuesday, June 30) after the collision between a Ford Transit van which was parked at the roadside and a Renault Master patient transport ambulance.
A Lancaster Area Police spokesperson said the ambulance was heading towards Lancaster city centre on Caton Road when the vehicles collided.
One patient in the ambulance, a woman in her 50s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she remains.
Three other people – one in the ambulance and two in the Ford Transit, suffered more minor injuries.
An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing.
“This collision has left a woman with some very serious injuries, and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened or who has any footage which could assist our investigation to come forward and speak to police," said Det Sgt Stuart Hart, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 14:22 on June 30 2026, two fire engines from Morecambe and Lancaster attended a road traffic collision on Caton Road in Lancaster.
"Firefighters used a bariatric sled to extricate one casualty from a vehicle. Crews were in attendance for one hour and 10 minutes."
