Police have issued a warning after a report of a possible rogue trader knocking on doors in the Skerton area of Lancaster.
Lancaster Area Police says they recently received a report from a local resident about a man who came to their door claiming to be working with Scottish Power and that he was there to reduce energy bills.
He tried to get the resident to call a particular number and began to be pushy when they did not want to call at that moment in time.
After entering the number into an internet search engine, the number provided showed as a suspected scam.
PCSO Leon Hubbard from Lancaster Area Police said: ‘’This male was around the Ashbourne Drive area but he could have also been around neighbouring streets.
‘’Always remember to check the validity of these people who claim to be working with trusted companies, and trust your gut if you sense something is not right with the situation.
‘’If you believe it to be a scam or fraud, please report this via our non-emergency number 101 or 999 in an emergency.’’
