A project to protect the natural landscape in Silverdale and Arnside will receive a million pounds in funding from the National Lottery.
The area has been chosen among five national Landscape Connections projects that aim restore nature, strengthen climate resilience and help more people engage with natural heritage.
Protected Landscapes across the UK are facing increasing threats, including wildfires, habitat loss and impact from the climate crisis.
The cash is coming from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to assist with addressing environmental challenges and involve people to help safeguard the landscapes for future generations.
The Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape is internationally recognised for its rich habitats and wildlife, including limestone pavement and the Morecambe Bay coastline.
The funding for the project will restore nature, improve access and help ensure the landscape remains resilient and welcoming.

‘’These projects demonstrate the ambition, innovation and partnership needed to secure the future of our treasured landscapes, while laying the foundations for long-term nature recovery and stronger connections between people and nature.”
Sarah Mason, CEO, Morecambe Bay Partnership charity added: “With generous support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund our coalition of organisations will gather robust evidence of need and create a shared vision for the project with our community.
‘’We’ll identify barriers to inclusive access to the National Landscape, develop training programmes in nature recovery and carry out ecological surveys and feasibility studies.’’
