An iconic burger van in Lancaster city centre will reopen as a son continues his parents' legacy.
The popular Bill's Burgers on Cheapside will be run by Sean Flynn and his fiancee Diana Panc, following the death of Sean's parents Bill and Michele within the last year.
William 'Bill' Flynn, known as 'Burger Bill, died on May 1. His wife Michele passed away in 2023.
Paul Cusimano, who runs the nearby Joseph & Co shop and the Totally Local Lancaster Facebook page supporting Lancaster businesses, posted that: "The baton has been passed on.
"It has been a tragic 12 months for the Flynn family, losing Michele last summer and then Bill this spring.
"The dilemma facing their two sons, Sean and Steve, and the question being asked of them, was whether Bill's Burgers would return.
"I have the great privilege in being able to announce that on Tuesday July 2, Sean will be joined by his beautiful fiancee Diana and together they will continue the legacy that began over 35 years ago.
"On a personal note, as someone who looks up towards, and passes, that little corner of Cheapside six days a week, it very much feels like the city's soul is being restored. Fantastic decision Sean, Steve, Cath and Diana."
Bill's funeral cortege passed through the city centre on May 24, close to where his van has stood for many years, allowing friends and customers to pay their respects, after his death aged 65.
People came from far and wide to buy his burgers, and the aroma of the food on Cheapside has been a staple of many a shopping day for visitors to the city centre.
