A friendly and welcoming front man at a popular Morecambe ice cream parlour has died, it has been announced.
Bosses of Lewis’s on Marine Road shared the news on Tuesday, of the death of Alex Newhouse.
Writing on social media, they said: ‘’We are heartbroken to share the news that our dear friend and colleague Alex has passed away.
‘’Many of you will have known Alex for his warmth, his smile, and the time he always gave for a chat. He was a much-loved part of our team and will be deeply missed.
‘’He meant a great deal to us and to so many of you. We are all heartbroken and taking things one day at a time as we come to terms with such a loss.
‘’Our thoughts and love are with Alex’s family and loved ones.
‘’Thank you for your kindness, patience and understanding during this difficult time.’’

Tributes have flooded in for the popular worker.
Morecambe BID (Business Improvement District) wrote: ‘’On behalf of everyone at Morecambe BID and from all your friends in the local business community, we are sending you much love, and please know that the team at Lewis’s and Alex’s family and friends are in our thoughts.’’
Elaine Richardson said: ‘’Alex was always smiling, so friendly and welcoming. I am so very sorry and he’ll be missed massively. Thinking of all his family and everyone at Lewis’s. Rest in peace Alex.’’
Dawn Stovold added: ‘’So sad he always had such a big infectious smile. He was a genuine kind caring lovely guy. Always asked about the family and had the time to listen and really cared.
‘’You could tell he loved his job too always laughing. We will miss him as I’m sure he will be missed by so many.’’
Peter H Richardson wrote: ‘’Such a lovely chap. Forever smiling. I always thought of him as Mr Lewis’s - the front man of the cafe. A very sad loss for his family, his friends at work and the regular customers who got to know him.
‘’It’s not the same without him. Thank you Alex, for just being Alex. RIP.’’
