Police have arrested two men in their 20s on suspicion of assault after a man suffered a serious head injury at a bar in Morecambe.
Emergency services were called to Harry’s Bar on Marine Road Central at around 6:30pm on Saturday evening, where they found a man had suffered a head injury in the beer garden at the rear of the venue.
The man, aged in his 60s, has been taken to hospital where he remains in what’s described as a poorly condition.
Two men, both aged 24 and both from Morecambe, have been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
A spokesperson for Morecambe Area Police said: ‘’We know that something like this will understandably cause concern in the community, and we want to reassure you there is no risk to the public.
‘’We have also seen that there is some speculation online surrounding this incident and need to remind you that a man has been left seriously injured, and a live investigation is in its infancy at this time.
‘’Please refrain from speculating online or otherwise and allow our officers to carry out a thorough investigation.’’
If you do have information or footage that could assist our enquiries, you can contact 101 quoting log 1317 of July 11.
Following the incident, Tim Barbary (pictured), Chair of Morecambe Pub Watch and Safe Morecambe, issued a statement on social media urging residents to continue to support local venues.

‘’We all send our love and support for a full recovery to the person involved,’’ said Mr Barbary.
‘’To dispel all the rumours that have been circulating on social media, this was an isolated incident that has no bearing on a well-run bar, and the police will deal with the incident accordingly.
‘’ I gather the door staff were fantastic in helping the injured person as well as the bar staff.
All the fantastic pubs have acts on today and the atmosphere will be amazing as it has been all weekend, Morecambe is a great safe place to be and we hope that you will come out today and support our pubs.’’
