Police have appealed for help after a spate of 13 thefts in two months in the rural areas of south Lancaster.
Det Insp Adie Knowles of Lancaster Police said that thieves are targeting secluded areas to steal quad bikes, vehicles, plant and expensive rural equipment in the area near Lancaster University, Galgate, Ellel and the Lower Lune Valley.
Det Insp Knowles, speaking on his regular Beyond the Beat segment on Beyond Radio on Tuesday, said: "Since the beginning of January, 10 of the 13 offences have occured overnight, between late Sunday night and specifically on Wednesday mornings.
"It's something we do suffer from, from time to time, in the rural farming community.
"These people who are committing these offences will be going round in vehicles, they will be going round scouting for places to go, to try to steal from.
"It's an appeal to the rural communities that if you see anything suspicious, then just ring it in."
