The face of a popular Morecambe coffee shop and ice cream parlour has died, it has been announced.
Bosses of Lewis’s on Marine Road said they were ‘heartbroken’ to share the news of the passing of Alex Newhouse.
Writing on social media, they said: ‘’We are heartbroken to share the news that our dear friend and colleague Alex has passed away.
‘’Many of you will have known Alex for his warmth, his smile, and the time he always gave for a chat. He was a much-loved part of our team and will be deeply missed.
‘’He meant a great deal to us and to so many of you. We are all heartbroken and taking things one day at a time as we come to terms with such a loss.
‘’Our thoughts and love are with Alex’s family and loved ones.
‘’Thank you for your kindness, patience and understanding during this difficult time.’’

Tributes have flooded in for the popular worker.

‘’You could tell he loved his job too always laughing . We will miss him as I’m sure he will be missed by so many.’’
Peter H Richardson wrote: ‘’Such a lovely chap. Forever smiling. I always thought of him as Mr Lewis’s - the front man of the cafe. A very sad loss for his family, his friends at work and the regular customers who got to know him.
