Two brothers have been jailed for burgling a string of houses in Lancaster and Morecambe on the same evening.
Sevi Conley and Neeve Conley travelled from Yorkshire to carry out the break-ins.
They targeted properties where the householders were out, searching through all rooms and often ransacking them.
Quantities of jewellery were commonly stolen in the burglaries, entry gained to the houses by smashing windows or patio doors.
Lancashire Police launched an investigation and some of the stolen property was found dumped in a car park on Marine Road East, Morecambe.
CCTV enquiries showed this happened between 8.15pm and 9.20pm on 25th January, with the burglaries having taken place between 5.09pm and 8pm that evening.
Sevi Conley and Neeve Conley were arrested at a hotel in Leeds, with clothing and footwear belonging to them seized – these items matched the clothing worn by the offenders in Lancaster and Morecambe.
Keys for a Land Rover Freelander which had been seen in the area on the night of the burglaries, were found in the hotel room where the Conley brothers were arrested.
Sevi Conley, 30, of no fixed address, and Neeve Conley, 24, of no fixed address, appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday (3rd June) for sentence after pleading guilty to eight burglary offences.
They were both jailed for five years and eight months.
Detective Constable Beth Andrews of the West CID Residential Burglary Team said: “These two men travelled some distance to commit burglaries at houses in Lancaster and Morecambe in the space of a few hours.
“They went through all the rooms in many of the houses looking for items to steal, leaving their victims absolutely devastated.
“Lancashire Police will not tolerate the behaviour of those who choose to break into the homes of others.
“We will gather evidence against them to put them before the courts.
“I would like to thank colleagues at West Yorkshire Police for their assistance in this investigation.”
