Road closure in place for filming of The Bay TV series

A further road closure next to the Promenade is due this week for filming of TV series The Bay.

A temporary traffic regulation order is in place for the Coastal Road in Morecambe from the entrance to Cheyette Fitness (the former VVV site) to its junction with Elm Grove, from 9am to 3pm on Thursday June 11.

Lancashire County Council's order says this will "temporarily prohibit any motor vehicle, cycle or pedestrian (except for filming participants) from proceeding over those lengths of highway".

"The police, fire and ambulance services have been informed.

"The temporary prohibition is necessary to enable the filming of the television series 'The Bay'.

"The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs."

Diversions will be in place.

Signs are in place on Marine Road East and the Coastal Road to warn of the impending closure, saying there will be residents' access and businesses open as usual.

Since beginning on ITV1 in 2019, The Bay has gained a huge following as a fictional team of Morecambe police try to solve crimes amid the beautiful and sometimes haunting backdrop of the town and the surrounding area.

The Bay team returned to the town to shoot for Series 6 last month.

A section of Marine Road Central in Morecambe was closed on May 28 so film crews could shoot a police chase scene for The Bay.
