Morecambe - and Tyson Fury's decision to leave the town - is a major part of the new series of a reality show about the boxer's life.

The new season of At Home with the Furys, which arrived on worldwide streaming service Netflix on Sunday, tells the story of the Fury family's life in Morecambe in 2025.

The former world heavyweight champion's struggle to adjust to home life during his latest retirement from boxing is a central theme of the series - which is already the number one rated on Netflix within hours of release.

The natural beauty of Morecambe - including many stunning aerial shots of the Promenade - is also showcased in the 10-part series, as filming took place last year when the family still lived in Heaton-with-Oxcliffe.

Since the Netflix cameras stopped rolling late last year, the Furys have moved to the Isle of Man, after making their home in the Morecambe area for more than 15 years.

At Home with the Furys Season 2 shows the dramatic moment Tyson made that decision to uproot his family - including wife Paris and their seven children Venezuela, Prince, Tyson (Tutty), Valencia, Adonis, Athena and Rico.

In Episode 8, 'The Gypsy King', out of nowhere, drops the bombshell on Paris while on holiday in the south of France.

"My mind's made up, let's leave Morecambe Bay," he said,

A shocked Paris says: "It's strange to me because he loves Morecambe so much."

On returning to Morecambe, Fury reflects on his lack of privacy in the town, where he says he's repeatedly asked for photos with people while out shopping, and receives constant "begging letters" through the post.

"I've been in Morecambe for 17 years, and there's no personal life, everything's public, where I live, where the kids go to school, there's no privacy, it doesn't exist," he says.

He tells Paris: "I just want a fresh start, a new life. I just want a peaceful life, not famous, not doing anything, just a normal life."

But a concerned Paris says she is "apprehensive" at moving "nine individual people with nine individual lives to a new location".

She also expresses worries for her husband's mental health, after his well-publicised battles in the past.

Tyson starts to look for potential new homes, including in the Bahamas and elsewhere in Lancashire.

Fury then tells his dad John: "I'm not happy. I've got to make a lot of big decisions to do with all of our futures."

But the impulsive Tyson then changes his mind, telling Paris: "We're not leaving."

Paris says: "This is typical Tyson. Lo and behold, Tyson isn't going anywhere. I'm glad, I'm quite content where we are."

But then at the end of the series, the family are shown packing ahead of the move, and making their emotional departure from the Bay area.

"I've been in Morecambe for 17 years and now is the time to do it," said Fury.

"We're definitely leaving Morecambe.

"It's made a big impact on my life. It's where my kids were born and raised. I've got great memories of Morecambe.

"But now it's time to let it go."

Paris said: "I found out I'm moving my whole life and my seven kids away to a different place. It's not something dramatically new to us because we're travellers and travellers travel.

"But everything is going to change."

In 2023, speaking to Beyond Radio, the Manchester-born 'Gypsy King' explained why he loved living in Morecambe.

"I like Morecambe and if I didn't, I wouldn't live here," he said.

"People ask why do you live in Morecambe? Because I want to.

"Usually what happens is, when someone makes a few quid, they want to move from where they were originally and they want to get away from who they are. Me, I made a few quid and I stayed exactly where I was.

"I bought my first house on Osborne Road in Morecambe, two-bedroom, it was a bungalow, then I moved from there down to Hest Bank on the front, then I moved back to Morecambe, so I've moved literally half a mile from my first house.

"I don't get mithered here as much as I would do in big cities. If I do leave Morecambe, it wouldn't be to a different UK town, it would be to a different country, for sure."

At Home with the Furys Season 2 also shows the celebrity boxer at many of his favourite places in Morecambe.

The dad-of-seven has heart to heart chats with his 16-year-old daughter Venezuela in the Morecambe Hotel, and with son Prince while sitting on the sea wall near the Clock Tower Cafe on the Promenade.

Tyson and Paris are also filmed eating in Keegans cafe in Poulton Square and Half Moon Bay cafe at Heysham, while Venezuela sits down for a magazine interview at the Trimpell Club on Out Moss Lane.

The family are also shown on their regular shop in Asda Lancaster supermarket.

Morecambe Football Club is also featured several times during the series, most notably when the club's Local Choice Suite is the location for a marriage proposal in Episode 10, as Venezuela's boyfriend Noah Price asks her to marry him.

Tyson's barber Kywan from K1 Barbers on Euston Road also accompanies the former champion to a boxing show in Turkey, and gives him a trim as he video calls Paris.

Then while contemplating whether to have shoulder surgery ahead of his boxing comeback, Fury sits by the cliffs at Heysham, overlooking the picturesque Morecambe Bay.

Series 1 of At Home with the Furys on Netflix, which also heavily featured Morecambe and its beautiful scenery, debuted in 2023 and was also the number one rated series on the platform.

Fury, 37, defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov by unanimous points decision in his comeback fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Saturday.

The Furys then attended the red carpet premiere of At Home with the Furys, before returning to the Isle of Man.

A third series of the fly-on-the-wall show is in the pipeline.
